30.11.2020

Online orders, special clothing, clothing orders have recently become especially popular. There are positive aspects to order online. First of all, online orders are financially profitable. Prices in online stores are lower than in malls and stores. In addition, if you order from a reputable online store, you are less likely to be deceived and buy counterfeit products. You can read about determining how reliable an online shopping site is in this blog. Online orders are also time-efficient. Admittedly, although we love shopping, sometimes it is difficult to spend time for shopping. Thanks to online orders, this problem is eliminated. Without leaving your home, you can bring the product or dress you want directly to your door by ordering. The assortment is another "vote" in favor of online orders. You can walk around the mall for several hours and not find what you want. Each of us is familiar with this situation. We went to the mall to buy a jacket and finally bought trousers, sweaters, shoes, but could not find a jacket that suits our taste. Online orders do not have this problem. You can't go online for days. But the main thing is that in the end you will find the product you want. Especially in recent months, when shopping malls and stores are closed, online ordering saves our wardrobe. But we should not forget about disadvantages of online shopping despite the fact that it has a lot of advantages. Today, we will talk about a problem that many of us face when online shopping for clothes and, as usual, we will look for solutions to this problem.

The problem we will touch on this time is the measurement problem. We are sure that each of you has encountered cases when the clothes ordered online are big, short, long and small. Don't worry, most likely the reason for the narrow waist of the last trousers you ordered is not that we have already gained weight, but that the choice of the size of the trousers. Conversely, you have ordered a shirt for training in the gym, and the shirt you are looking forward to is ultimately too big for you. Still, keep your heart like ice, you are not small, it is a mistake to order.

Yes, sometimes the approximate size we choose when ordering clothes is ideal for us. However, we need to solve this problem once and for all in order not to try our luck again when ordering the next shirt or trousers. The solution to every problem is, first of all, to understand the essence of the problem. To do this, let's first look at measurement systems. How many types of measurement systems are there? What does it describe? What do S, XL, 44, 48 that we see on the sites when ordering online mean? What about when ordering shoes? Sometimes it's 44, sometimes it's 11. Why? After reading our blog, you will understand what size clothes fit you when ordering clothes and shoes online, different measurement systems and what the measurement criteria actually mean. Most importantly, you will get rid of measurement problems that occur during the order once and for all.

First of all, let's get acquainted with the most common measurement systems. When ordering online, you will usually see either letters like L, X, XL or numbers from 42 to 60 in the product information. Let's start with the fact that these two measurement systems are mainly used in clothing above the waist. The letters S (small), M (medium), L (large), which you will come across when ordering more shirts, jackets, sweaters, indicate small, medium and large sizes, respectively. The letter X in front of us means extra, that means strengthening the size. For example, XL means extra large. With two-factor measurements starting at 42, the issue is clear. The next time we order a dress, we will not only understand the dimensions intuitively, we will know what each sign, each letter means.

The situation is slightly different in clothes below the waist. When ordering jeans and trousers, we usually come in sizes 32-34, 29-31. Is this a measurement range or what? No, firstly, the sizes we see, W (width) - means the width of the trousers' waist. Secondly, H (height) is the circular size of the thigh area. Both indicators of clothing reflect a separate part.

The situation is more comfortable when ordering shoes. There is a certain size, the product does not undergo significant changes in shape. For this reason, online shoe ordering is more popular than other clothing orders. However, sometimes the size of the shoes can be confusing, and we see 5.5-6 instead of 36-37 size we are used to. It is a western measurement system and is mainly used on western online shopping sites such as Amazon, E-Bay and sites that appeal to more western buyers such as AliExpress. If you prefer to shop online in Turkey, you will rarely come across these dimensions. But in all likelihood, we will take a closer look at both shoe measurement systems in the future.

After talking about measurement systems and general information about what they mean, it is finally time to get to the heart of the matter. Let's discuss what to look for when ordering online, and what the dimensions are based on.

In some stores and brands, the same sizes differ in reality. For example, size 44 of one brand corresponds to size 48 of another brand. However, there are generally accepted sizes that allow you to determine exactly what the jacket or shirt you are ordering will look like when you order clothes online. The following table shows the measurement systems used for clothes which are above the waist:

If you look at the table, you can see the relationship between the two measurement systems, as well as a detailed explanation of each measurement. For example, the L-size men's shirt you ordered is about 182 cm long, with a chest circumference of 106 cm, a waist circumference of 96 cm and a sleeve length of 63 cm.

The next table that will greatly facilitate our work when ordering trousers online :

For example, 24-size jeans will be 58-60 cm at the waist, and the round size of the thigh area will be 89-91 cm. In general, there are many different types of jeans, and each type has its own characteristics. We will talk in more detail in our next blogs about the points you need to consider when ordering jeans and the types of jeans in general.

Now it's the turn of the most in-demand orders-shoe orders. As mentioned earlier, the situation is relatively simple when ordering shoes. However, sometimes it can be confusing to see the size in the online store in western size. To do this, by looking at the next table, we can easily convert the western measurement system to the standard measurement system we know better.

We understood the measurement systems, which size means what. But how do we determine our own size? What should we do if we have gained extra weight in quarantine, or if we have become more sensitive to sports and nutrition? In fact, it would be a good idea to consult a tailor to determine your exact measurements and measure every part of your body and keep it at hand when ordering online. But if you do not have the time or desire to go to the tailor, there is a more convenient way. You take a dress that you think is ideal for you, you measure its length, width, waist, neck, in short, everywhere, and so on! It's that simple. Well, what if our measurements do not exactly match the table? For example, your waist is 60 cm, and the waist of the jeans you want to order is only 58 and 62 cm. In this case, fashion designers always recommend rounding your size to the maximum. Because a dress that is a little loose will look more neat on you, not a tight dress. That is, in the case of the parable, it makes more sense to order a pair of jeans with a waist of 62 cm.

Although there are many advantages to order online in general, there are many things to look for when ordering clothes. We will touch on these topics regularly in our blogs and together we will learn about online orders and online shopping. Happy shopping!
